The Great British Bake Off is back in January for a Sport Relief special series, which will see twelve well known faces from across the BBC enter the Bake Off tent.

Presented by Mel Giedroyc and judged as usual by Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, the show is stripped across the week. There are three heats; in each heat, four bakers compete for a place in Friday’s grand final.

The format may be different, but once the bakers – choreographer Arlene Phillips, actress Angela Griffin, weatherman Alex Deakin, presenter Anita Rani, historian Alexander Langlands, Radio 4 presenter Fi Glover, historian Gus Casely-Hayford, botanist James Wong, gardener Joe Swift, singer turned fashion designer Pearl Lowe, entrepreneur Saira Khan and actress Sarah Hadland – enter the Bake Off tent, the judges’ expectations are as high as ever.

Gardeners’ World presenter Joe Swift is lost for words when his family meringue recipe is described as ‘superb’ by Paul and the finalists reach unexpected heights, delivering astonishing bakes including a ‘beautifully professional’ three tiered lemon wedding cake, meticulously decorated with handmade, miniature iced daisies.
